Tip #5: Be Supportive and Patient

The key word of "Back To School" is TRANSITION. Always remember that your child is going through a lot of change. If the routines take a while to get in the groove, be patient. There might be some hard days with implementing new routines and you most likely will get push back at some point, but the best thing to give your child is support and structure. Stick to your routines and know that it will help your child feel safe at home. Have frequent check-ins with your child to see how he or she is doing with all of the new! Support his or her new friendships, new ideas and new interests. Open the lines of communication with your child and your relationship will grow!
